Phase progression —> Phitness Phase into Race Season

Most of the JET Squad are well and truly into the build phase of the season progression of cycles…

The build phase builds upon the foundation laid in the prepatory phase and builds towards the race season. We also see a gradual, progressive and specifc build in intensity, volume and overall conditioning. By the end of this phase one should feel fit and robust and ready to absorb the load of race specific work.

Often the race specific phase will be preceded by a short (2-4week) block we call the ‘Phitness Phase’… this little block is a consolidation of the build phase and involves key sessions centered around building sustained power. The result is a steep improvement in overall ‘fitness’, hence the name.

It means you arrive at the beginning of the race phase very well conditioned, and very fit… which puts you in a great position to absorb and adapt to the specific workload of the race specific phase / season!

For those racing the Australian domestic season and beginning the season in Nov/Dec then this phase wont be far away.
