For the majority the ‘triathlon season’ is complete and it is time to plan ahead for the remainder of the year and next season. Over the coming weeks we will be sharing articles and ideas about how to best manage this period, set meaningful goals and what training should look like to set you up to remain healthy but also set up performance down the road!
Here are a few non-negotiables to get things rolling:
- Keep training! Back off the intensity and volume, do what you enjoy but remember training should ebb and flow, rather than switch on and off
- Reflect on last season, your racing and your goals… Then plan ahead and set/reset your goals
- Consider the habits and systems that will help you achieve this – they could be things you let drop off over the last six months!
- One main focus should be on long term sustainability to allow for consistency over time
In regards to training, make use of the pack training options and opportunities – they are there for a reason and they work!
- Anchor the week with Tuesday Pack Rides – accessible to anyone, anywhere – 6am AEST
- Make Friday your key swim day, followed by Wednesday
- Maintain run frequency – low intensity three times a week
- Strength training – there is a reason we share a DIY strength session EVERY week – this habit is paramount to health, fitness and performance! Simplicity and sustainability is key, no need to over complicate!
