YOU DON’T NEED 3-HOUR LONG RUNS.
Many marathon plans suggest you need regular 3+ hour long runs.
You don’t.
Instead, focus on:
– Durability
- Efficiency
– Strategy
Start your preparation early enough that you don’t have to cram it into 8-12 weeks.
Build your running gradually through consistent frequency before chasing huge long runs.
Use cycling and strength training to continue building your aerobic engine and muscular resilience while reducing the impact that comes with extra running.
Then on race day…
-Pace appropriately.
-Fuel to your needs.
– Trust the work.
For most athletes, long runs of around 2-2.5hrs hours are more than enough for marathon and IRONMAN preparation.
We have many results in the vault to support this.
Beyond that, the risk often starts to outweigh the reward. Physically and mentally.
Train smarter.
Not just longer.
