Preparing for race day…
As the race season, your next event or your A race gets closer you should consider everything that will help you be best prepared for the demands of the race.
This includes; pacing, nutritional strategy and bike choice / position.
So it may mean more time on the TT and less time on the road bike. Or more time in ‘race position’ on your bike for choice.
Try this bike specific session to tackle all of the above… to be completed on race bike, in race position with race nutrition.
20mins progressive warm up – slow build in cadence and hear rate to warm up then:
3-6 x 10mins at race intensity / 5mins float
10mins spin down, and/or run off the bike
Adjust or progress number of intervals, or even length of intervals based on time to race day, time availability and fitness levels.
Pay attention to cadence and heart rate but also the ‘feel’ of the session. Practice race day fuelling and hydration. Intensity will be adjusted based on goals, ability and race distance.
Train smart, good luck, enjoy…
