One of my biggest tips for age group triathletes: train first thing in the morning…

Going a step further; if possible schedule your key sessions for the week in your available morning time slots

Why?

– we are (generally) well rested
– exercise is a great start to the day and has many flow on benefits
– our scheduled commitments are (typically) very few before 8am – ie. no one wants you at 5/6am!
– if you have trained in the morning the session is complete and in the bag – regardless of how the rest of the day turns out!

Shift workers?

Consider if it is feasible to adjust schedule and find out what suits you best. You could:
– go upon waking (whenever that is in the day)
– immediately upon finishing your shift (and before heading home)
