Cadence Debate…
There is no magic cadence when it comes to cycling… or cycling for triathlon.
This is not about tell you to ride at ‘x’ or ‘y’ cadence, but rather a list of considerations when it comes to choosing a cadence, or cadence range for training and racing.
Different cadences will put different strains on your musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems and as such it is a good tool to develop the full range of cadences to have at your disposal.
Finally, optimal cadence will be different for different people…
Here are some considerations.
Happy cycling
– Time in the sport and hence, cycling specific strength
– Distance racing
– Individual ‘rhythm’
– Sporting background
– Running cadence
– Purpose of the session / goal of the race
– Training Cadences vs Racing Cadences
– Course terrain and conditions
– Effort vs Speed
