We have all heard of quality over quantity… But what does it really mean?
Some self reflection of late along with some guidance from additional learning / personal development has lead me to consider this from an endurance athletes standpoint.
Regardless of ones view on the volume vs intensity debate with regards to endurance training and racing one thing must be present… maybe two things: Intent and Purpose.
Without these things you risk wasting sessions, and wasting time and effort.
Put it this way… 10 purposeful training hours completed with appropriate levels of concentration, buy in and INTENT are much more useful than 15 hours of training that is structure-less, mediocre and lacking appropriate physical and mental intensity.
So, when structuring training blocks, weeks, days, sessions consider your ability to show up and execute with intent and purpose for best outcomes. These outcomes include enjoyment, satisfaction and improvement (to name a few).
Go get it!
