Sub Eleven
All of our IRONMAN CAIRNS finishers went Sub11 on June 12th
Ranging from first timers to seasoned campaigners and an age range of 25 through to 50 years old we were very pleased with their preparation and proud of their execution. Here is a little more about each athlete’s day!
Four Twenty Four
Ryley has massive potential and a massive engine – he is capable of fast racing… But he isn’t there yet. For now the goal is consistent, solo racing and honing his craft.
A 4:24 over the Cairns course is ‘solid’ and it was another good outcome from the big dawg. We now continue the work so that we can have him closer to the front of the age group field.
The journey is young…
The Man
Take a bow Josh Robson. An IRONMAN time of 9:42 to his name after racing in Cairns.
With the preparation and planning complete it was up to him to execute and he brought it home with a big PB.
Well done Joshy!
Gutsy
Luke was prepared for a much better finish time than the results page shows but it wasn’t to be this time around.
His preparation included everything needed to ensure he had a good day out but some underlying gut health issues came to the fore at 5hrs in and made for a day centred around perservence over performance.
He’ll be back. Roll on Busso!
Personal Best
Matt Ellis capped off a fantastic season of racing across all distances with a stellar, well rounded performance at IRONMAN Cairns.
Sub 6hr ride, Sub 4hr run, Sub 11hrs and finishing time of 10:50 was the result of a patient and persistent build, along with a patient and persistent race strategy.
Well done, ME on this race and a great season – you encapsulated our #beyourbest approach to training and racing!
On Debut
Daniel Robson, you are an IRONMAN!
Young biologically, young training age and only a short time with JET COACHING. This prep was all about keeping things simple and nailing the basics of IM prep.
10:27 on debut thanks to this approach and a faultless execution of our race plan. When you stick to the plan, it usually works. Well done for ‘trusting the process’
More to come from this man…
Process
Summed up in a way only Shay can he said post race “the prelude is just as enjoyable as the day itself”… A great message for us about enjoying the process and valuing the journey!
It wasn’t the day we envisioned for Shay at IRONMAN Cairns with a sore foot in T2 that left him unable to weight bear ending his day there and then.
This is IRONMAN – anything is possible, anything can happen.
Onwards to IMWA2022…
Hungry
Well done and congrats to Tim Kershaw on his 70.3 debut in Cairns. Tim is coached by Rob Hill of Hilltop Coaching but joined us as a JET community member and attends our Melbourne group swims.
He set himself up with a respectable 32min swim and then rode conservatively to set up a good run and a great day overall.
We hear he is hungry for more!
