Good weekend for JET athletes over at IMNZ…

Adrian Verdnik put together a great swim and bike combination to set himself up for success but a nasty cramp coming out of the water earlier in the day meant he pulled himself off the course early into the run (due to a calf that didn’t want to run!)… We will review, reasses and relaunch from here

In the 70.3, Luke Host, consolidated on a patient and progressive preparation with a solid all round performance. This included a 2.22 bike split and resulted in a 7th place in the 30-34 age group

Finally, Shay Mcleod had a day to remember… He swum steady, biked strong and ran a VERY consistent marathon to stop the clock in 9.46 which left him 7th in his age group. This was enough to secure his first KONA qualification. The squad is stoked for this very well deserving athlete

Motivated by Shay’s success? Well, you should also know that Shay is an active father to two children and his wife, Jess, is pregnant with their third. He also runs a physio practice in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs. Simply, he loves the sport and would train all day if he could (and I let him!). He epitomizes #agegrouperlife and the value of consistency, love of the sport, considerate planning and hard work. Killer combo; congratulations mate!
