Ironman Cairns is 5 weeks away… Training focus should be consistency including logging necessary training volume to adequately prepare for the specific rigors of race day.

With this comes fatigue, and tiredness, often a blur of the two!

My advices is as follows:

Firstly, it is normal. So don’t stress and try to rise above it. Don’t overthink it and manage it with your Coach.

Training is about preparing body for racing… and that’s multifaceted. Physical, emotional, mental etc

Try to prioritize the following:

– sleep – more is better!
– hydration – are you adequately hydrated?
– body management – rolling, massage etc
– appropriate (often more) fueling – the right foods!
– good warm up and cool down for every session
– leg elevation for recovery and relaxation
– maintain positivity – embrace and enjoy!
– training intent – what is purpose of each session?
– revisit your goals / reasons for undertaking the challenge…

Ultimately…

These are all things that should be in play all the time… but they are still / more applicable when you’re tired and fatigued!

Undertake a ruthless application of the fundamentals and you will succeed…

Good luck!
