What brought you to the sport?

This is a long winded answer….

1. My husband was the person who introduced me to this sport. I went to watch him race and LOVED the atmosphere, I admired and felt inspired by the people I was watching at how committed they were and the challenges they’d set themselves.

At the time the idea of riding a bike, which I was never very good at when younger especially when it came to turning corners, was far from my mind.

2. My husband was always out early in the morning training or late at night. So I figured can’t beat them so may as join them. He brought me my first bike which “I’m only going to use on the trainer”. That didn’t last long and off on the road I went and then came the next bike and the next…..

3. I decided that I had had enough of the challenges that life kept throwing at me that I had to overcome, losing a child, watching another go through life threatening surgery to name a few and knew that it was my time to take a bit of control back and challenge myself.

Biggest accomplishment in the sport?

I’m not sure that I have had this yet, but being able to enjoy every moment to date has been my accomplishment

How has triathlon impacted your life?

I could say it’s impacted my overall health and fitness but, if I was to be honest, that’s probably only the half of it.

Triathlon has taught me many things about myself, some things I knew already like, I love expensive shiny things, and that my life revolves around structure (probably something to do with my previous and current employment). So structured training is a must for me!

Most importantly triathlon has helped me, in my short two years and very few races to understand that I have the strength to achieve the goals I set for myself.
