A message to our athletes, but also the winder endurance sport community.

This COVID thing is hanging around… Many in Victoria are directly affected by round two of the ‘Lockdowns’. Naturally, people deal with this sort of thing in different ways. But, for most it is hard is some way. Even if that is simply ‘COVID – Fatigue’.

So here is a quick point-by-point reminder of some simple habits we can ALL adopt to help manage this period… In fact, any challenging period.

– Focus on what you can control
– Lean into the JET Community; live sessions, banter chat, education, JET Challenges, a bunch of good people
– Ground yourself in your training
– Keep communication high – with your Coach, your friends, your colleagues, your family etc
– If you are struggling with routine then use training to create structure and punctuate the day
– Lost your compass due to not racing? Create your own challenges or utilise the JET internal challenges
– Adopt a growth mindset – you can still improve!
– Take the opportunity to enjoy training and doing some different things as part of that process
– Accept, but don’t dwell… ‘it is what it is’
– Understand the physical, mental, emotional health benefits of training, routine and familiarity
– Remember our ‘non-negotiables’, the basics: endurance load, strength training, recovery, nutrition & hydration
– Embrace the benefits of ‘staying home’; more family time, more down time, less commuting, more ‘time’
– Act; make things happen… it’s time! Mood follows action so sometimes we just need to get started
– We are well equiped so embrace the athletic mindset
– Don’t under estimate the value of fresh air and sunshine

Also a reminder of what JET is doing / has done to support the JET Community.

– Live / Virtual Training sessions
– Increased communication for 1:1 athletes and community members
– Continued education
– Updates to video library
– Introduction of JET Challenges
– Doubling down on the role of health and fitness for performance (in life)
