What brought you to the sport?
One Saturday morning whilst riding leisurely and minding my own business, Jamie’s peloton swallowed me up in all their fury. After that ‘ride’, I befriended the athletes, became very interested in their multisport training and lifestyle, and I thought that this thing could be for me. Almost 10 years later, I still reckon it is the thing for me.
Biggest accomplishment in the sport?
A handful of full and half-distance finishes have been the biggest highlights thus far. However, I get the same satisfaction from crossing the line at any event, and also completing epic training sessions.
How has triathlon impacted your life?
I could write endearing phrases like “It’s given me self-belief” and “physical and mental health awareness” and “structure in my daily life” and while they are all more than true, at the end of the day I’m just chasing a hit of endorphins that only training can provide.
Dream Goal
To run the Melbourne Marathon.
Dream Race
Cairns 70.3 and then the full distance the following year.
Something interesting about you which most people would not know
I used to compete in Dancesport. A long time ago. Like last century.
