What brought you to the sport?
Some friends and I decided to give one a go during uni in Bendigo. I then decided to try the Sandringham Olympic distance; turns out 1500m in the ocean wasn’t great for me and I finished the swim in a rubber ducky before completing the final legs. That’s when I thought I better get some Coaching if I want to keep going…
Biggest accomplishment in the sport?
My first Ironman. I completed Ironman New Zealand in 2011, it didn’t stop raining the whole 13hrs it took me. I remember vividly, crossing the finish line as my then fiancé ran along side the finishing chute under lights with the announcer calling me across the line. My body then went in to a form of shock for about 2 days.
How has triathlon impacted your life?
Triathlon gives me sense of order and also accomplishment day to day. I struggle without a reasonable amount of structure and have severe depression so this helps me to commit to something I value and improves me chemically.
Dream Goal
To go under 5hrs for a half ironman or close to 10hr for a full distance… or complete a triathlon with one of my kids. They’re 5, 7, 9 so I think currently I could beat them! 🙂
Dream Race
Originally Norseman but now any full, maybe Busso.
Something interesting about you which most people would not know
I was a cook for a wealthy English family over the European summer at their holiday house in Menorca, Spain. Probably the best job I had as I back packed around Europe… you know, when we could travel.
