PLAY YOUR CARDS!

Wise man once said about racing… it’s not the cards it’s how you play them. This fits with our ‘Be Your Best’ motto. It goes beyond swim-bike-run and it goes simply ‘going faster’.
Playing your cards is about making the best of the situation that presents itself. No matter that situation. In racing it means focussing on optimising your current fitness. Not where you would like to be. Not where you have been in the past. Right now. This race. And then… making the best of how the race unfolds. Regardless of how you feel, regardless of how it has gone up to that point.
Shay, the wise man mentioned earlier, is also great at practising what he preaches. During his last outing in Kona he played his cards very well. Was it his fastest IRONMAN? No. Did he have a standout performance in swim, or bike, or run? No. But he made the best of the hand he was dealt on the day and ended up executing one of, if not the best IRONMAN of his career.
No mean feat on the big island.
