If you are more than 24 weeks (six months) from your next (key) race then we highlight recommend you complete a preparatory (prep phase of training). The goal of this phase is general preparation and conditioning. It is less about race performance and more about general health and fitness.
It is also a great time to:
– Complete ‘baseline’ testing
– Set goals for the period / season ahead
– Create sound routine and habits
– Train and both ends of the intensity spectrum
– Get strong
You should not be floating aimlessly through the next few months – you should still have purpose and direction in your training
