Do you prepare your body and your gut for the rigors of race day by sampling race day nutrition AND hydration? You should!
By the time you enter your ‘race phase’ you should have a fair idea of your bodies needs versus your guts tolerances. Then you can start to sample timing and volume of intake whilst training at similar intensities over similar distances (or durations) relative to race day…
Separate to this is hydration, which includes both fluid and electrolyte intake… This will vary for the individual but also vary significantly based on the conditions come race day. Be prepared, and again; experiment with different volumes to understand how the body responds.
Fueling and Hydration are both critical to overall performance outcomes on race day – don’t leave them to chance. Be proactive and diligent when planning and preparing for this part of your race.
