It’s race week! It is easy to get caught up in the finer details of trying to ensure you ready to perform come race day… But, as is often the case, there is great value in keeping it simple and nailing the basics! Sound familiar?
Here are some tips to make the most of the week – also check out the link in bio/below for a look at our popular blog called ‘getting fit is the easy part’
– Maintain your normal structure and routine… It will serve you best, you’re used to it. Keep it simple.
– Pay attention to sleep hygiene and maximise the opportunity for you to bank some good sleep.
– Frequency of training can/should remain but overall volume should drop
– Also look to retain/add some short bouts of intensity – you want to keep the body activated, engaged and ready!
– Stay process driven – be attentive to what you need to do to be organised and ensure that race weekend is as smooth as possible
– Pay extra attention to fueling and hydration this week. You will feel better and you will stay energised and alert
– Organise your equipment early in the week to avoid unnecessary stress later in the week
– If you are experiencing self doubt think about all the things you HAVE done to adequately prepare for the demands of race day. These don’t always need to be training related
The week often comes with doubts, pressure and expectations – usually self imposed! – so sticking to your routine, staying grounded & in the moment, and, allowing yourself to build personal confidence.
