Relaxed is efficient. Efficient is fast.

We all want to be ‘fast’… Fast is relative, but, speed comes from efficiency. And efficiency can be maximized through being relaxed!

So learn to relax when you swim, bike and run… This will improve your efficiency and in turn, your ‘speed’

Some tips for relaxing when training and under load:

– Control your breathing – deep, controlled meaningful breaths

– Relax your forehead and this will relax your whole face… in turn, let that flow through the rest of your body

– When cycling, start with finger tips and then move through the chain and relax each connecting body part… ie. fingertips, hands, forearms, shoulders, neck, jaw etc

– When running, try to remove tension through upper body by relaxing shoulders and allowing elbows to drop towards the ground

– Place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth and breathe as normal

All these are about awareness… If you have awareness you can then remove tension and improve your efficiency.

Good luck!
