RUN GOALS
A 90min half marathon is a common goal for may endurance athletes. For many triathletes a big milestone is to run a 90min half marathon off the bike. Eric was able to achieve this at Melbourne 70.3 recently.
His running has gone to strength to strength over the past couple of years – it started with learning to control his heart rate and run easy, next we worked on efficiency and overall resilience and, more recently, we have been working on conditioning and ‘speed’
We knew he was capable of running this quick off the bike but needed to tweak our approach to training along with race day execution to get it to click. Very satisfying for Coach and athlete to see it happen. Even better as it was after a bike PB and part of an overall 70.3 PB of 4:32.
