THE MAGIC TRAINING ZONE!
Doesn’t exist.
There is no one single training zone superior to others.
Each zone has its place. Each training zone plays a role in athletic development. For example:
Z1 – Easy
Z2 – Smooth ‘Endurance’
Z3 – Steady ‘Tempo’
Z4 – Strong ‘Threshold’
Z5 – Hard
The ratios in each zone will vary from athlete to athlete depending on their goals, their history, their training availability and their physiological profile. It will also vary at different times of the year / season depending on the focus at that time for each athlete.
In most cases there will be a skew to lower intensity being more prevalent to higher intensity. That’s just common sense.
– There aren’t any zones that should be avoided.
– There is no grey zone.
– There are no magic zones.
Coaching is about building a better athlete.
The best athletes don’t chase adaptions from just one zone.
They train all of them.
Be your best
