The weekend of the 4th and 5th of December was supposed to see approximately a dozen JET-Packers head over to race IMWA and WA70.3. As it turned out this didn’t happen… but, as always, we made the most of the weekend anyway! Some ultra runs, a JET challenge and a couple of fantastic debut 70.3 performances over in WA – we will start there.

Western Australia 70.3

  • Samuel Maricic 4:35 – 2nd AG
  • Dean Host 5:10

Both in their debut over that distance, Sam and Dean both executed very well rounded races in Bussleton. Sam lead the way with a 4:35 which landed him second in his AG and Dean crossed the line in a highly respectable 5:10 with a killer big-run combo. Well done boys.

Bruny Ultra Marathon (64km)

  • Emma Petterwood (& Laura) 5:30

A unique team based event where the girls decided to run 6-8km at a time each – 32km each through the rugged Tasmanian wilderness (and weather). Em now has her sights on a half marathon in Jan

Surf Coast 100 Trail Run

  • Peter Graham (50km) 7:04
  • Matt Ellis (28km) 2:49

A tough day for PG but as we come to expect from him he gritted his teeth and he got the job done. 50km of running in the hills and trails ain’t no easy feat. Matt had a great day out as part of a team event in the 28km!

JET Half Ironman / Endurance Challenge

As always we had great buy in from the majority of the JET Community who embraced the concept of the challenge weekend. This one was a half Ironman and/or ‘Endurance’ challenge in lieu of the event in WA. Full list below!

We have some special mentions including;

  • Josh Robson for taking on a 3.8km swim, 160km Zwift ride and 30km run over the weekend
  • Kate Bannister for the HIM swim, 3hr indoor ride (on a spin bike – nutter) and then a 21min run – challenge spirit well and truly embraced here
  • David Gunn for a 180km ride on Saturday backed up by another 100+ on Sunday – I think that counts as ‘endurance’
  • Kevin Collington for getting involved all the way from Orlando – a 1:07:44 half marathon PB and 2nd place finish on Saturday followed by a ‘recovery day’ which included a 90km ride and 1.9km swim on Sunday… Lucky he’s Pro 😉
